The government voted unanimously Sunday to give the city of Be’er Sheva National Priority status. The move is part of a campaign to strengthen southern Israel.
Other steps in the campaign have included moving IDF bases to the south and creating a network of highways and trains to speed travel between southern Israel and the Tel Aviv region.
