Report: Syrian Army used Cluster Bombs on Civilians
The Syrian army dropped cluster bombs over civilian areas while fighting rebel armies for control of a highway, the Human Rights Watch organization has accused. The group said the bombs were used near the town of Maarat al-Numan in northwestern Syria.
Cluster bombs are designed to kill large numbers by scattering many smaller bombs. Many nations have banned their use.
