Kibbutzim (agricultural collectives) are generally considered a left-wing stronghold, guaranteed to support the Labor or Meretz parties in national elections. However, Maariv reports, in recent months there has been a surge of support among kibbutz members for the center-right Yisrael Beiteinu (Israel Our Home) party led by Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

“Yisrael Beiteinu has become a central player in the upcoming elections in this sector,” Avitar Dotan was quoted as saying. Dotan works with Yisrael Beiteinu and also heads Kibbutz Shomrat.
