The upcoming national elections will be “stormy,” Yair Lapid of the newly-founded Yesh Atid party wrote Wednesday, responding on Facebook to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s announcement that elections will be held early.

“Everyone will try to distract us from the essential issue, but we will not let them forget what the elections are really about: it’s not working!” Lapid wrote. “In the current system, instead of the government working for the majority of the public, it gives in to sectors and interest groups over and over.”

“In the current system people who served in the army and work cannot even dream of owning an apartment, but other people, who did not serve and do not work, get apartments for free,” he added.
