The United States military has secretly sent a task force to Jordan to help deal with the fallout from Syria’s bloody civil war, the New York Times reports. The 150 U.S. experts will help Jordan’s army handle Syrian refugees and prepare for various scenarios, including the possibility that Syria will lose control of its chemical weapons.
The task force is currently focused on helping Jordan handle the roughly 180,000 refugees from Syria taking refuge in the country, and on avoiding the kind of border fighting occurring between Syria and Turkey.
