“This is the point where the social justice protest is truly put to the test,” protest organizer and national Student Union head Yitzik Shmuli said Tuesday in response to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s announcement that elections will be held early.
Elections will test “the connection between protests and elections, between the megaphone and the ballot box,” he said. The elections will first and foremost test young Israelis’ socio-economic priorities, he added.
