The Yisrael Yakar Lanu (Israel is Dear [Expensive] to Us) group came out, Tuesday, with a call for a consumer boycott of Osem food products, starting Sunday. The boycott is in response to price hikes that are now coming into effect. During the initial month of the boycott, the group is asking its members not to buy the company's snack foods, headed by Bamba and Bisli, or the company's catsup. The group is posting alternatives on its website.
Eyal Ofer of Yisrael Yakar Lanu explained, "We decided to focus on Osem because Unilever has announced, in the meanwhile, that it is delaying its price hikes by three weeks and Osem is the most profitable food company in Israel...."
