President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran congratulated President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, Tuesday, for his election, Monday, to a third term. Ahmadinejad also expressed his willingness to tighten cooperation with the government in Caracas and to promote common regional and international goals.

A statement published by the Iranian Students News Agency called Chavez's victory testimony to Chavez's leadership and the development and progress of Venezuela.
