Guests at the Leonardo Club Hotel in Eilat were allowed to move freely about the hotel, Friday morning, after police killed a tourist who had opened fire in the hotel lobby and killed an employee of the hotel. Until the gunfight between the shooter and the police, guests had been told to stay in their rooms for their own safety.
A police anti-terror unit tried to negotiate with the shooter, who had barricaded himself in the hotel kitchen. He opened fire on police and was killed by their return fire. The tourist was recently fired from a job at the hotel.
