Chairman Eli Yishai of the Sephardic hareidi Shas party told a Sukkot event for the Nachal Hareidi army unit, Thursday evening in Jerusalem "The army does not want to recruit hareidim and nobody should tell stories," noting that the state comptroller had written sharp criticism about the matter. He added, "It's the easiest thing to attack hareidim but when we come to enlist, we will be a majority in the army." He also said, "They wanted to crush the world of the Torah but they can't succeed."
