Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin said, Thursday evening, that the induction of members of the hareidi-religious community into the Israel Defense Forces will not be by force. Speaking at an event of the Nachal Hareidi army unit, he continued, "but the leadership [of the country] must find a way for equal [carrying] of the burden" of service between the hareidi and non-hareidi community.

Rivlin added, "There are not two peoples here. The Jewish people is one people which lives in one country. Studying Torah is a value but so are the Israel Defense Forces and a balance must be found between them." He also said, "I'm proud of you and salute you."
