Maariv trustees offer paper's employees a chance to buy

The trustees of the Israeli newspaper Maariv made an interesting offer to its employees Thursday - buy our paper and run it however you'd like.

Still desperately seeking a buyer after the sale of the paper to "Makor Rishon" publisher Shlomo Ben-Tzvi was put on hold, Maariv turned to its senior most employees with an offer to sell them the paper, should they be able to amass the capital for the purchase.

"If you are able to raise the necessary resources, either yourselves or in partnership with outside parties, and you, the employees, will be the shareholders of Ma'ariv or parts of it," the letter by the trustees states. "You, maybe more than others, can create a new and different newspaper, which can be both interesting and profitable."
