Thousands in ‘Samaria’s Capital’ for Holiday

Thousands of people visited Sebastia on Tuesday, the first of the intermediate days of the Sukkot holiday. Visitors saw performances featuring characters out of Biblical history and heard music performances in which the instruments were based on Bible-era instruments.

Sebastia was used as a capital city following the split between Judea and Israel over 2,800 years ago. It was destroyed in 722 B.C.E., and rebuilt nearly 700 years later as a Roman city.
