Iran was so concerned over a possible Israeli strike that it fired on civilian aircraft, the New York Times reports. The incidents in question took place in 2007 and 2008.
“Iranian air defense units have taken inappropriate actions dozens of times, including firing antiaircraft artillery and scrambling aircraft against unidentified or misidentified targets,” the report quoted a classified Pentagon document as saying.
