Employees of the financially-troubled Ma'ariv daily intend to put up a protest Sukkah, Tuesday afternoon, opposite the home of owner Nochi Dankner. Dankner's sale of the newspaper is under court review. The workers fear for the future of their jobs.
A demonstration against the possible closure of the paper has been planned for Wednesday in front of the Prime Minister's Residence. In a statement, the workers' committee said, "We demand that Dankner sign an agreement with us to insure that the workers get 100 percent of their rights and nothing less." Referring to Binyamin Netanyahu's speech about the Iranian nuclear threat, the union also said, "The firing of 2,000 workers is a red line."
