Lieberman: Revolution Coming to Iran

In an interview published Sunday, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman predicted an Egyptian-style revolution in Iran. Lieberman said that the Western sanctions against Iran were having the desired effect, and that eventually the Iranian people will rise up against the economic woes the government has caused them.

In the interview, published in Ha'aretz, Lieberman said that “the young generation has had enough of being held hostage. There is a shortage of basic goods in Iran, a rise in crime, and people are trying to escape and smuggle money abroad. The protests Iran faced in 2009 will return, even bigger. I believe there will be a Tahrir Square-style revolution there,” Lieberman said, referring to the epicenter of the uprising against Hosni Mubarak in Egypt.
