Hamas to Abbas: Abraham a Muslim Prophet; Not Jewish

The Hamas terror organization has criticized Thursday's speech by Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas at the United Nations for his implicit recognition of Jewish claims to the land of Israel, which he called "the burial place of Abraham, the land of the three monotheistic religions".

While giving credit to Abu Mazen for the way in which he presented "the suffering of the Palestinian people as a result of the occupation," Spokesman Salah Bardawil said Abbas implied that Abraham was a symbol for the Jewish people and on this basis the Jews could claim a historical right to Arab land. He continued, "This claim contradicts the Muslim faith and is contrary to the [Palestinian] national perspective."
