Qatar to Give Jordan $1.25 Billion in Aid over 5 Years

Qatar announced, Thursday, that it would give Jordan 1.25 billion dollars over the next five years as part of a comprehensive aid program to the Hashemite kingdom by the Gulf States. Qatar's Finance and Economy Minister, Yousef Kamal, said the aid is intended to improve Jordanian infrastructure and create a comfortable investment climate.

Last year, the Gulf States agreed on a joint grant of $5 billion to Jordan for five years. The government in Amman is trying to erase a three-billion-dollar debt in this year's budget of more than $9.5 billion.
