Earthquake Hits Western Alaska

An earthquake registering 6.4 on the Richter Scale took place in the sparsely-populated western Aleutian Islands of Alaska, seismologists report.

No injuries or significant damage have been reported so far. There were no warnings posted. The Alaskan Monitoring Center reported that the quake was felt in an area that is about 2,500 miles from Anchorage, the largest city in the state.
