The Defense Ministry has completed the preparations for the official memorial services for the casualties of the Yom Kippur War. The memorial will take place on Thursday.
The Defense Ministry department that deals with such issues said that this year efforts will be made to acknowledge families members of fallen soldiers from abroad. Mourners from South Africa, Germany, USA, Canada, France, Spain, Australia, Brazil, Thailand and other countries will participate. The Yom Kippur War took place on Yom Kippur in 1973 when Egypt and Syria launched a surprise attack. Israel decimated the two invading armies and won the war in only three weeks. Arab expeditionary forces from Iraq and Jordan participated as well. 2,689 Israelis were killed.
