Two Hamas officials confirmed on Monday evening the reports that the movement’s politburo chief Khaled Mashaal has announced that he intends to resign.

The two officials, Mussa Abu Marzouq and Izzat Rishaq, confirmed that Mashaal has told Hamas leaders during a conference Cairo that he would not seek re-election.
