Signs posted on Monday evening in the Ramat Eshkol neighborhood of Jerusalem are calling mayor Nir Barkat to stop “hareidizing” the neighborhood (i.e. stop turning it into a hareidi neighborhood).
The secular population of the Ramat Eshkol neighborhood has been holding a persistent struggle against the construction of a hareidi educational center in the neighborhood. When the secular residents saw that the municipality continues to build the center and that peaceful protests are not having any effect, they decided to speak out and say unequivocally that they do not want hareidi residents in the neighborhood.
