A web site belonging to Kadima activists on Monday congratulated former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on the light sentence meted out to him earlier in the day, and called on him to return to active duty in the party. The Yalla Kadima site, operated by activists in the party, said that it would ask Shaul Mofaz to step down as party head so that Olmert could replace him, pending the outcome of the Holyland project case, which is still ongoing.
“If the cloud of the Holyland case dissipates we will ask Shaul Mofaz to step aside in an honorable manner,” the site said. “Most of us believe that Olmert is the only one who can lead and rehabilitate this party,” it added.
