August Hotel Traffic: Fewer Foreigners, More Israelis

About 2.5 million hotel nights were recorded during August, according to figures, released Monday by the Israel Hotel Association. Overall, it marked an increase of six percent from last year, with a seven percent increase in the occupancy rate to 75 percent.

The approximately 1.74 million Israeli nights marked an increase of 11 percent from 2011, while the 757,000 international stays reflected a three-percent decline, despite record numbers of incoming visitors at Ben Gurion International Airport. Hotel Association President 'Ami Federman said the industry would study the reasons.
