Highway 38 Improvement to Go to Bid This Week

Transportation, Infrastructure and Road Safety Minister Yisrael Katz instructed the National Roads Company, Sunday, to publish a bid for proposal immediately after Wednesday's Yom Kippur observance for improvements to Route 38 between Sha'ar Haggai and Beit Shemesh, west of Jerusalem. The improvements are intended to improve safety on the route and cut down the travel time between the two points, helping to continue growth in Beith Shemesh.

The project is expected to cost about 800 million shekels and take three years to complete. It includes two lanes in each direction, divided highways and intersection improvements, including livestock and railroad underpasses.
