Iran: We're Going to North, South Poles

Iran's navy is so powerful that it can reach Antarctica, the commander of its navy said Saturday. Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari was quoted by Iranian news agencies as saying that Iran “has the capability to hoist Iran's flag in different regions from the North Pole to the South Pole. We have had coordination with the Oceanography Organization, and we are planning presence near the Antarctica," Sayyari said, adding that Iran “has a right to have presence in high seas."

The report said that Iran was already building a research vessel that would be dispatched to the South Pole, and that it was about 35% complete.
