The leader of the French right-wing Front National party, Marine Le Pen, called on Friday to ban the wearing of a kippah in public places. 

In an interview with the Le Monde newspaper, Le Pen said that just as there is a ban on wearing the burqa (the face covering worn by devout Muslim women), so should wearing a kippah be banned in public places.
