Probe Ordered of Labor Law Violations at Ma'ariv

Industry, Commerce and Labor Minister Shalom Simchon ordered, Thursday evening, that the regulation and enforcement staff of his office investigate suspected violations of labor law and workers' rights at the Ma'ariv daily. The suspicions arose in conjunction with the sale of the financially-embattled newspaper.

The ministry noted that non-payment of wages or violations of workers' rights is a violation of the law and not just a matter of an obligation between employer and employee. The minister also instructed director Boaz Hirsch of the Employment Service to get ready to take care of hundreds of the newspaper's employees in case they are dismissed.
