Demonstrators shouted, "Death to France!" during a Thursday protest at the French embassy in Tehran against carictatures against the prophet Muhammad in a French satire magazine. The demonstration broke up peacefully, but not before the protestors pointed an accusing finger at Israel and the United States, and burned flags of the three countries.
France has begun to close embassies, consulates and other missions in Arab countries out of concern for Islamic revenge. Missions in 20 countries will be closed on Friday in an attempt to prevent disturbances that could break out after Friday Muslim prayers.
