Iraq Opens Syria Border, but Bars Young Men

Iraq has opened a crossing in its border with Syria and is allowing refugees to enter the country. However, young men are not being allowed through, for security reasons.

The border crossing was closed for weeks while the Syrian army and rebel factions faced off in a nearby province. The Iraqi government allowed 100 refugees a day to cross to Iraq in that time, with first priority given to women, children and the elderly.
