Thief Returns Stolen Lectern on Rosh Hashannah

Pangs of guilt over the coming holiday of Rosh Hashannah – also known as the Day of Judgment – apparently led a thief to return a precious stolen item. The lectern at which renowned Jewish leader Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv used while praying and teaching Torah was found in its usual place as the holiday began, two months after it had been stolen.
The lectern was considered an item of value because it was so often used by the famed rabbi, who passed away in July at the age of 102. Police had been called after it was taken, but were unable to find suspects.
