Thousands of police and border guards will be on duty throughout the day in Jerusalem in order to ensure security as Jews make last minute preparations for Rosh Hashanah. Police and border guards will patrol malls, shopping centers, marketplaces, and the city center.

At night, large numbers of security officials will patrol the Old City and the roads leading to and from the Western Wall. Police warned that they would treat anyone who disturbs the peace harshly.
