Jerusalem Police on Alert Due to Arab-World Tensions

Jerusalem police have announced that they will raise the preparedness level, Friday, in the capital, including the area around the Old City to prevent tempers from flaring after Muslim prayers around Temple Mount mosques, according to the Yisrael Hayom daily. The possibility for violence has risen due to violent protests in a number of Arab countries in response to an American amateur video viewed as against the prophet Muhammad.

The increased police alert level will carry into the traditional high alert for Rosh Hashannah, the Jewish New Year, which begins on Sunday evening.
