Member of Knesset Majallie Whbee (Kadima), who serves as Vice Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) considered not going to PAM's Energy Challenges in the Euro-Mediterranean Region conference, which starts, Friday, in the Moroccan city of Ouarzazate. A Foreign Ministry representative was forced to curtail his participation in a March conference in the capital, Rabat.
Whabee said he decided to go after receiving an SMS message that he had a personal invitation from Morocco's royal house to attend the conference, calling it "a moving tribute". He said he plans to meet with members of parliament and ministers from the newly-elected government, making it the first official visit of an Israeli representative since the new government was installed. He added that conference organizers added a tour of a Jewish village at the end of the two-day meeting, indicating their sensitivity and the importance they attach to the visit.
