Clashes broke out Wednesday night between police and several hundred protesters in Cairo’s Tahrir Square, close to the U.S. Embassy in Egypt. The police did not allow the demonstrators, who were protesting the American film mocking the Mohammed, to approach the embassy.

The Egyptian interior minister told CNN that 12 people were arrested during the protest.
