Roughly 1.5 million Israelis regularly pray in a synagogue, according to Synagogue Association head Eliezer Shefer. The number of regular worshipers has increased lately, he told Arutz Sheva, particularly among women.
There are approximately 150,000 synagogues in Israel, he said. Half are affiliated with the hareidi-religious community, while the other half are considered religious-Zionist or Mizrahi.
More than 70% of Israeli Jews visited a synagogue over the past year, and nearly one-third of Jewish men in Israel pray in a synagogue each day.
