More Babies Survive in 2011

Infant mortality in birth has dropped significantly in Israel over the past decade, according to Central Bureau of Statistics data released Tuesday. There were 3.5 stillborn babies for each 1,000 births in 2011, compared to 5.1 per 1,000 births in 2001.

The CBS data also showed that life expectancy in Israel remains high, and that the Jewish birthrate has risen to its highest level since 1977.
