Israel will take responsibility for its own defense, Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin said Tuesday following a dispute between Israel and the United States over Iran. “The latest developments who that we must be prepared for the world to yet again sit on the fence,” he said.
“The Prime Minister has an obligation to be ready for a situation in which the world stands by and does nothing in the face of a threat to Israel and to the world,” he continued. “Past experience has taught us that we must take our destiny in our own hands and not rely on anyone to do the work for us.”
Israel “is not trying to be overly determined or aggressive,” he added.
