Palestinian Authority PM Salad Fayyad announced Tuesday afternoon that the PA will cut taxes, increase the minimum wage, and pay salaries. His promises appeared to be aimed at staving off a growing wave of protests similar to those that led to “Arab spring” regime changes elsewhere in the Middle East.
Fayyad called on donor states to provide the PA with immediate economic assistance in order to make the new measures possible.
