Former Israel Defense Force Chief of Staff Lt. General Gabi Ashkenazi said he had no prior knowledge of the Israeli counterstrike on an Syrian nuclear facility in 2007. Ashkenazi told the Israeli based Calcalist media outlet that he found out about the incident from the morning radio and newspaper. Details of the strike did not come out immediately and were released only over time. Ashkenazi made the comments in response to a new expose in the New Yorker magazine about the incident.
