Report: Israel Agrees to Compensate Gaza Family

Israel has agreed to to compensate a family from southern Gaza whose two sons were shot to death by Israeli troops during the Cast Lead counter-terror operation of 2008 and 2009, according to a Monday report by Agence France Presse. AFP cited a statement by the Gaza-based Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, which said Israel will pay 430,000 shekels (about $108,000) to the Shurrab family of Khan Yunis.

An Israeli military spokeswoman told the news agency, "The case was not dealt with by the Israeli military prosecution but by the state advocates."
