Vice Prime Minister Moshe Ya'alon welcomed on Sunday evening Canada’s decision to cut off ties with Iran.

“I congratulate the Government of Canada on its important decision to suspend diplomatic relations with the government in Tehran,” said Ya’alon. “The decision proves once again that the policy of the Government of Canada, led by Stephen Harper, is based on moral and ethical considerations rather than narrow interests.

“This determined step taken by the Government of Canada is of great significance in the face of an unconventional Iranian regime which threatens world order, carries out terrorism around the world and seeks to destroy Western civilization and wipe Israel off the map,” he added. “Only significant worsening of sanctions and diplomatic isolation, along with a reliable military option on the table, can bring the wayward regime in Tehran to the dilemma of choosing between a bomb and survival.”
