Hanan Porat Torah Scroll to Kibbutz Kfar Etzion

A ceremony was held, Sunday evening, at the synagogue in the Judean kibbutz Kfar Etzion, to introduce a Torah scroll donated in memory of Rabbi Hanan Porat, about two weeks before the anniversary of his death on the Hebrew calendar. The day also marked the 45th anniversary of its third re-establishment, after the Six-Day war, the previous establishment dates having preceded the establishment of the modern state of Israel.

Rabbi Porat, who served in the Knesset, on-and-off, between 1981 and 1999, was a founder of the kibbutz. Participating in the ceremony, in addition to the donors, were soldiers and other members of the kibbutz who cherished his memory.
