The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened the trading week, Sunday, with modest to sharp gains. The TA Composite Index closed at 996.47, up 1.65 percent, while the TA 100 rose 1.7 percent to 1,006.13, including a 1.52 percent climb to 1,129.45 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 finished the day at 357.59, up 1.27 percent.
Leading the gainers was the oil and natural gas index, which jumped 4.92 percent to 951.35, followed by the bank issues, which closed at 866.86, up 4.64 percent, as the financial institutions advanced 4.03 percent to 776.77, including a 4.34-percent jump to 758.20 by the insurance stocks. The communications and media index finished the day at 453.26, up 3.05 percent, followed by the real estate issues, which rose 2.22 percent to 239.47. The biomed stocks closed at 721.42, up a percent, while the rest of the technology index advanced .74 percent to 361.50.
