Ahead of Israel's 65th birthday, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Deputy Minister for Senior-Citizen Affairs, Lea Nass, joined the post office, Sunday, in launching a stamp to honor the country's seniors. The words "Thanks to them" are written in Hebrew and English on the NIS 9.40 stamp. The words "Senior Citizens' contribution to Israel" are also written in Hebrew, English and Arabic against the backdrop of a pair of aging hands working with clay on a potter's wheel. The rim of the vessel being fashioned is in the shape of a six-pointed star.
Through this stamp, the state expresses its appreciation to the veteran generation for their tremendous contribution to the building of the land and the establishment of the state. It seeks to instill gratitude in the younger generation for what has been done on its behalf.
