The government's Names Committee decided, Thursday, that the Israel Defense Forces' training-base city in the Negev will be named after Israel's first prime minister, David Ben-Gurion. The facility will carry the name "Kiryat Ben-Gurion".

Professor Moshe Sharon, who heads the committee, explained that the choice received a large majority as a way of teaching future generations about Ben-Gurion's heritage.
