‘Prosecution’s Stance on Olmert – Moral Bankruptcy’

The Legal Forum had harsh criticism for the State Attorney’s Office on Wednesday after state prosecutors decided not to seek the “disgraceful” label for former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s offenses. “This is moral bankruptcy,” the group said.

Olmert gave up his benefits as an ex-PM on Tuesday in an attempt to avoid the “disgrace” label. Attorney Yossi Fuchs said his move should not have mattered, “The question of benefits is a minor issue when it comes to ‘disgrace,’ and the primary issue is whether his conviction will prevent him from holding office in Knesset and government for the next seve years,” he said.
