Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has dispersed a ministerial cabinet set up to discuss critical defense issues. In a dramatic announcement as the cabinet sat to begin its work, Netanyahu revealed that someone in the room had leaked information to the media.
“The security of the state and its citizens depends on our ability to hold confidential discussions… That is where all the facts, all the opinions and all the consequences are revealed. It is a basic tool for managing state defense,” he said. “Yesterday, someone dealt a severe blow to the trust Israel’s citizens put in this forum. He violated the most basic rules of discussion in the defense cabinet.”
