Olmert Gives Up Ex-PM Privileges

Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has given up his right to benefits as a former Prime Minister in order to prevent the State Attorney’s Office from seeking to brand his convictions of “carrying disgrace.” Lawmakers convicted of “disgrace” offenses face restrictions such as a years-long ban on holding political office.

Olmert’s PR adviser, Amir Dan, told the Hamesh B’Erev program’s Sefi Ovadia, “The State Attorney’s Office is apparently pained by the fact that Olmert was found innocent of the main accusations, and they are looking for a way to humiliate him.”
