U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton clarified on Monday that the United States recognizes Iran's right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, but stressed that “Iran must comply with its international obligations and it should not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.”
Clinton's remarks were made during a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Indonesia.
